Frequently Asked Questions

Getting Started

How do I schedule my first appointment?

Simply call or text us at 502-314-8835, or email Contact@louisvillegiftedpsychology.com. A licensed practitioner will respond to you directly—you won’t be passed through a secretary or call center. We’ll schedule a brief 15-minute initial meeting to discuss your needs and how we can help.

Do I need to fill out lengthy intake forms?

No. We don’t use long forms or intrusive questionnaires. Your first step is simply a 15-minute conversation where you share how you’re feeling and we share how we can help.

What happens during the 15-minute initial meeting?

This is a relaxed, conversational meeting where you can share what brings you to us, describe how you or your family member is feeling, ask questions about our services, learn about our approach, and discuss scheduling and payment options. There’s no pressure and no commitment.

Do you offer telehealth services?

Yes, we offer telehealth services in addition to in-person appointments at our Louisville office. Telehealth hours may differ from our standard office hours.

Services & Specialties

What services do you provide?

We offer comprehensive neuropsychological assessments, gifted testing for children, therapy and counseling for individuals, couples, and families, and coaching and consultation services. We specialize in working with bright, gifted, and neurodivergent individuals, including those who are twice-exceptional.

What age groups do you work with?

We work with children, teens, young adults, couples, and families.

What does “twice-exceptional” mean?

Twice-exceptional (or 2E) refers to individuals who are both gifted and have a learning difference, disability, or neurodivergent profile (such as ADHD, dyslexia, or autism). We have particular expertise in supporting 2E individuals.

What types of assessments do you offer?

We provide comprehensive neuropsychological assessments, individual intelligence tests (WISC, WPPSI, Stanford-Binet), nonverbal tests, school and GATES program testing, and achievement testing. All assessments are designed to meet the specific needs discovered in our initial conversations with clients.

What challenges can you help address?

We provide support for ADHD and executive function difficulties, dyslexia and reading challenges, written expression (dysgraphia), learning and processing differences, autism spectrum profiles, mathematical learning differences (dyscalculia), giftedness and twice-exceptional traits, and speech and language development concerns.

Our Practitioners

Who will I be working with?

We have two options. Our lead clinician is a PhD-level licensed psychologist with many years of experience in psychological assessment and therapy for bright and neurodivergent individuals. We also have a supervised professional who is a brilliant young practitioner working under the direct supervision of two well-respected PhD-level psychologists, each with decades of experience in the field of gifted therapy.

What’s the difference between the two practitioners?

Our experienced professional provides the full range of services. Our supervised professional offers an excellent option for young brilliant children and adults who may identify with a newer practitioner’s experience while still benefiting from the wealth of knowledge and guidance of seasoned supervisors. The supervised professional also offers a more affordable rate.

Who conducts the assessments?

All evaluations are led by a PhD-level licensed psychologist from start to finish. The same person who administers your testing will provide feedback, write your report, and help develop your treatment plan. We believe this continuity builds trust and deeper understanding.

Insurance & Payment

Do you accept insurance?

Yes, we welcome clients with insurance coverage. We’ll work with you to maximize your benefits and handle the necessary documentation.

What if I don’t have insurance?

We welcome self-pay clients and are happy to work with you on payment options.

Can I use self-pay even if I have insurance?

Absolutely. We understand that some clients prefer the additional privacy of self-pay, and we’re happy to accommodate that preference.

How much does it cost?

Services with our supervised professional are available at just $50 per session for self-pay clients. For pricing with our experienced professional or for assessment services, please contact us directly at 502-314-8835 or Contact@louisvillegiftedpsychology.com.

Client Portal

What is the client portal?

Our secure client portal, powered by SimplePractice, gives you 24/7 access to manage your care. You can schedule and manage appointments, complete intake forms and questionnaires, access assessment reports and documents, send secure messages, review and pay invoices, and update your personal information.

Is the portal secure?

Yes. The portal is HIPAA-compliant and uses industry-leading security measures to protect your personal health information. All data is encrypted and secure.

How do I access the client portal?

You can access the portal at https://victoria-ragsdell.clientsecure.me/. Our Approach

What makes your practice different?

We don’t take a cookie-cutter approach to assessment or care. We design all evaluations to meet the specific needs discovered in our initial conversations with clients. You’ll work with the same practitioner throughout your entire process, and a licensed professional will always be your point of contact—never a secretary or call center.

What does the assessment process look like?

A PhD-level licensed psychologist leads every assessment from start to finish. We use observations made during testing to ask more finely tuned questions during evaluation, and we use the testing process to build a therapeutic relationship that accelerates coaching or treatment plans. Our clients appreciate staying with one trusted professional throughout their journey.
